Dirand has always been attracted to minimalism. At the age of 12, he was familiar with Le Corbusier's work. At the age of 17, he bought his first Prouvé chair at the flea market for 600 francs. The chair is worth nearly $17,000. By the age of 21, Dirand was designing a small apartment for family friends and studying at the Belleville National School of Architectural Design in Paris. These experiences enabled him to directly create a studio of the same name after graduating in 1999.
